About me

I’m an experienced psychotherapist, with over 15 years experience, accredited with the BACP and I am an EMDR UK and Europe Accredited Therapist.

I work with adults experiencing a wide range of difficulties, including trauma, depression, anxiety, PTSD, imposter syndrome, eating difficulties and relationship issues.

I strongly believe that therapy should be individual to the person. What works for one person may be completely different for someone else, which is why I offer bespoke therapy rather than working from one approach alone. I draw on EMDR, attachment, parts work, somatic therapy and mindfulness, depending on what you’re struggling with and what I feel will be most helpful to you.

A key focus of my work is understanding how experiences from the past can continue to affect how we feel in the present — sometimes through our thoughts and emotions, sometimes through our relationships and patterns of behaviour, and sometimes through what we experience in our bodies.

Using EMDR, we can work with the experiences that may be sitting underneath what you’re struggling with now, rather than focusing only on managing the symptoms. I also work with different parts of the self, as well as images, dreams and the creative imagination, which can help us access things that aren’t always easy to reach through talking alone.

I believe we all get stuck at different times in our lives. Therapy gives us the opportunity to understand what’s happening, unravel some of what has become tangled along the way, and create the possibility for greater clarity, strength and peace.

Before becoming a psychotherapist, I worked as a journalist for women’s glossy magazines for 16 years. It was a career that was high-energy and a lot of fun, and enabled me to travel and meet all sorts of people. But the pull towards helping others, alongside doing a lot of work on myself to find peace with my own struggles and understand where they came from, led me to re-train as a psychotherapist.

I’ve always been curious about people and their experiences, and that curiosity is a really important part of how I work as a therapist. I try not to label people or make assumptions about why they feel the way they do. Instead, I approach each person with an open mind and a genuine curiosity about their own experience of the world. I want to understand what has shaped you, why you might feel or respond in the way you do, and what might be sitting underneath the difficulties you’re experiencing now.

I’ve never lost my love of writing and have since brought my two worlds together as the author of The Little Stress Relief Workbook and Find Your Path Through Imposter Syndrome.
